What is LED?

LED, or light emitting diode, therapy is a skincare treatment that uses varying wavelengths of light, which are readily absorbed into the skin. It is growing in popularity because of its ability to regenerate the skin and treat individual concerns such as acne, inflammation and signs of aging in a noninvasive manner. Unlike other types of light therapy, LEDs do not contain ultraviolet rays. Therefore, they’re safe for regular use for all skin types and colors, and do not cause any burning.

The specific wavelengths used in LED light therapy are well researched and scientifically proven to produce therapeutic benefits.

Blue light is effective in managing breakouts, as it kills acne-causing bacteria on and beneath the skin, helping to heal mild to moderate acne pimples, including cystic acne.

Red light penetrates deep into skin, into the dermal layer. When the light is applied to the skin, the epidermis absorbs it and begins to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Clinical studies have demonstrated a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, improvement in photoaging, a decrease in age spots and smoother, healthier-looking skin.

Near- Infrared is absorbed in the deepest levels of the skin and increases micro-circulation (tissue repair) and decreases inflammation.

Is it for me?

The Celluma FACE LED that we use is an FDA cleared device, and delivers all three wavelengths (880nm, 640nm, and 465nm) simultaneously to manage a variety of skin conditions. These wavelengths, in combination, work together targeting cellular activity at different tissue depths for better, longer-lasting results. The treatment time is 20 minutes minimum. The device will cover your face closely; this is necessary to ensure optimal energy absorption.  As the lights are very bright, you will be given eye protection to wear. There is no downtime with this treatment.

Contraindications include:

Pregnancy and nursing women

Seizure disorders

Any light-sensitizing medication or disorder

Accutane use

Steroid medications

As with any cosmetic treatment, LED light therapy requires several treatments to achieve desired results. 6 weekly sessions are optimal, and are available as a stand-alone treatment. Ask about a treatment series for rejuvenated skin and significant savings!

Remember, too, no results are permanent, as your skin is constantly turning over. You can schedule monthly facials with LED add-on to maintain your glowing results when your series is over!
